This has been a question on my heart for a few days now and I’d like to share the following thoughts.
Why does it seem we care more about the judgement of man more than the judgement of the ONE who’s thought(s) actually matter? We freak out when it comes to “he said, she said” and “I don’t want them to think….”, when we really need to think about who’s thoughts ultimately carry more weight anyway. Believe me I know what it feels like to be misunderstood or to have someone take what I’ve said or done and completely flip the script (take it out of context) and use it against me.
I found myself in a situation recently where I explained why I did what I did and hoped it would help the other person see what I actually meant. Then I realized, everyone is entitled to their opinion and misinterpretation, based on past or present experiences. It’s my job to leave it to God to defend me. I wish I would have come to that realization before I responded, but it’s a lesson learned. Often the best way to handle criticism is to say nothing at all. When you know where you stand and your heart is pure in a matter, there’s no need to explain yourself. LET THEM TALK & SHAKE IT OFF (Matt 27:11-12)! That’s all they can do 🙂
