Have a Little Faith

After venting to Zachary about something I didn’t understand, I did what I should have done to begin with; I talked to God. I placed a demand on my Heavenly Father. I’m your daughter and you are my good Father. I know you want to bless me and I want to receive the blessings you have for me, freely….

Amen.

The next morning my family and I headed to Magnolia Table and the Silos, in Waco, TX for a quick spring adventure. Zachary had to work half-day so we made the most of our morning. We left an hour later than we intended, but still only had a 45 min wait for a table when we got there. Remember I prayed a prayer of faith, so I had an expectant heart that my Father in heaven would answer.

Looking all around and taking in every moment of Jo and Chip’s dream brought to life was such a blessing (If you haven’t heard their story, I encourage you to get their book). I thought for sure I’d meet one or both of them, but didn’t want to limit God to what He wanted to do. I expected something grand that day.

Sitting at our table eating, Ezra began to squirm as most babies do when they are tired and fighting sleep. This made easy conversation with the two ladies next to us because he’s such a cute kid, who could get mad at him for being a bit rowdy? I asked what brought them there that day and it was one’s birthday so they were celebrating by going to the Johnnyswim album release concert. What?! I didn’t know they were playing this evening. $20 tickets??? Ugh!  Because we had already planned to be there half day there was no way we would be able to stay for the evening; especially with littles who need sleep and Zach having to work. Oh, well maybe next time.  We continued talking with the ladies, about baseball and how the St. Louis Cardinals and their fans are the best (they were Cubs fans👎🏾), so they didn’t exactly agree hahah.

We were wrapping up and getting ready to head to the Silos when I asked one of the workers to take a picture of my family and I together. Remember I mentioned Ezra being squirmy. Well, Zach tends to bounce the baby to help him relax, which is fine BUT NOT right after he eats. I quickly noticed that Ezra had thrown up on his shirt, therefore, in frustration I didn’t want a picture and was ready to go. Walking to the car a little irritated I looked up just in time to see Johnnyswim!! The husband and wife duo, walking toward Magnolia Table with their kiddos and a friend.

I saw Abner first, who was on his phone, more than likely doing an IG story, so I didn’t want to interrupt him, but Amanda was kinda walking a little further behind him looking around.

“Amanda!”, I called out. And without hesitation I walked over and hugged her. She met me with a genuine smile and hug. I introduced my family and she introduced herself to Zach and her son as well. Zach shared with her how I had just a few weeks ago posted a picture of us with our kids and lyrics to their song,

I explained to her that we wouldn’t be able to make it to their show that evening and asked for a picture. 5A0305AB-A372-4CC2-8A34-AFCFD4748318.jpeg

We wished them well and parted ways.

Y’all!! I was looking for Jo and Chip, but got exactly what God knew I needed!

You see I’ve admired this duo for a few years now and music is my passion. So how sweet of God to meet me, even in my frustration, with such a beautiful reminder that He sees me, He knows what I need and His timing is perfect. Sometimes you just have to have a little faith and an expectant heart. Our faith really does move the Father’s heart, even if it’s just a little faith.

This story will be one I hold close to my heart as a reminder of God’s love for me.

“And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.”-Hebrews 11:6 ESV

“And the Lord said, “If you had faith like a grain of mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.”-Luke 17:6 ESV
