“I have a gift for the girls!”
A sweet text I received that made my already anxious heart even more anxious.
Sigh…
“But we don’t have room, they have enough toys, she already has one….” Thinking and reasoning my way out of a gift because I felt overwhelmed and didn’t want to be a hoarder.
My sister-in-law wanted to give the girls a doll house. Zara already has one so I didn’t think she needed another one. The one she had was small and convenient; a bit out dated, but she didn’t mind it. I wrestled with it for a bit, which sounds strange because what’s the big deal right? But remember I was already feeling anxious and past tired, so I definitely wasn’t in the best place to make a decision.
“Lord, help me.” A simple prayer I prayed. Then I answered, “Yes. I will make room. Plan to come over tomorrow, I’m sure the girls will love it!”
The next morning I had distracted the kids upstairs, while my brother and sister-in-law set up this mysterious doll house downstairs, in the exact place where I made space. It was a perfect fit!
What a joy to see the look on Zara’s face when she saw this new doll house! She beamed with delight to receive a gift she didn’t even ask for! Not only was it a doll house, but it came with 4 dolls and a ton of accessories.
I’m so grateful for the Lord’s kindness to show me through this experience just how much He loves me and my family. He’s a giver, and a good and patient Father, who leads us well.
This doll house is a representation of how the Lord blesses us exceedingly, abundantly, above what we could ask for. We just have to receive with childlike faith. Sometimes it’s a simple “YES!” to an invitation!
There are blessings God has for us, but our reasoning, anxious hearts/minds and lack of trust, get in the way of those precious gifts being received. So I invite you today to make room to receive. You won’t be disappointed.
