Taste and See

Jesus, can you please give me my taste back.

A few days into having covid, I realized what I missed and wanted the most. I knew I had to go through it, but if I had to that’s one thing I knew I wanted back sooner than later.

Listening online to Alex Seeley preach at a service I hoped to be at, but couldn’t because of, well the Vid (don’t recommend it), I was still very tired and fading into sleep when I heard the Lord tell me, “Go eat an apple.” Immediately I thought or even said, “I’m tired. I don’t want to get up.”

Not letting me go, He showed me a picture of myself cutting an apple on a wooden cutting board. Immediately, I got up with an attitude and said, “Fine!” I went and sat at the table and started eating an apple. I being to describe to my husband that that was the juiciest, most delicious apple I’ve ever had in my whole life. He laughed at how much I was into the apple and my kids giggled too. I got up to wash my hands of the apple juice and thought, “I need some water after all that.” I sat back down at the table and took a sip of water. Wait a minute!! I could taste the apple!!! I have my taste back!! IMMEDIATELY I began to weep like a big ol baby, who just wanted a hug from her mama. I’m not kidding.

My 3 year old, sweet little boy walked over to me and said, “It’s ok mom. You’re kind, you’re brave, you are smart.” and my big girl picked up where her brother left off, “Aww I love you mom. It’s ok.” kissed my forehead and hugged me.

All I could say was, “Thank you Jesus.” as I wept.

He heard me. And yes, I heard him too. I tried to ignore it because I was comfortable in my discomfort; not recognizing an invitation. An invitation to have my request granted.

We don’t always understand God’s ways, leading or direction, but baby let me tell you, I learned that day. Oh, how He loves me and loves me well. Even in my stubbornness and unbelief; I’ve tasted and seen Jesus is GOOD.
