Radiant 2019:
I didn’t plan on going to Radiant that year, but when I found out CeCe Winans would be there I just had to be in the room. You see I grew up listening to the Winans family, and because their music was always playing in the house, I thought they were my family. After all, their last name started with a “W” too (child like faith😏). CeCe was my favorite of the family.
During the conference I heard the Lord speak to my heart: “This time next year you will be pregnant.” (I wrote a blog about it, feel free to go back and read it.) Sure enough, that time the following year, I was growing baby Hazel in my belly! Sometime after finding out, I remember telling the Lord, “One day I want to meet Auntie CeCe and tell her the story of how she was there when God gave me a promise.”
***Fast Forward***
“What do you want to do Sunday?” Zachary asked me on a Tuesday.
“Why are you asking me what I want to do Sunday and it’s Tuesday? I don’t even know what I want to do tomorrow.” He just looked at me.
“Why are you asking me that,” I continued.
“Because it’s Mother’s Day.”
“Oh. I didn’t even realize.”
The next day I opened my IG app to see a video for CeCe’s first Generation’s Live Conference. I looked to see where and when just for fun. I can’t make this up y’all, the church was 5 min away from where we were staying; literally right around the corner! And of course I just had to go. Happy Mother’s Day to me!!! I showed up and and God showed out.
On day 2 of Generations Live Conference, there was a “Get to know your neighbor exercise” they had us do. We were instructed to get out our phone and share a picture of something/someone who brought us joy and why. I had lunch with the two ladies sitting next to me so they had already seen the pictures of my family and heard all about them. They didn’t mind what I was about to do next. I got up, walked over and kindly introduced myself to CeCe Winans, who was sitting across the isle and one row up. She was warm in her welcome as I showed her a picture of the people who bring me the most joy – my family! She doted on them and laughed at me as I shared with her how I’ve listened to her music since I was in my mama’s belly! She listened intently when I shared how God promised me a baby the year she sang at my church and how we were new to Nashville. It literally was a dream come true to meet her! Before we parted ways, she invited me to her church and hugged me.
The next day was Mother’s Day and I accepted her invitation to attend her church. As she headed out after preaching, she stopped and thanked us for making it and told me how beautiful my family was. A most memorable experience I’ll cherish for always🤍✨✨✨
