I went home to sleep after being away for days. As I walked in the door I was met with an emptiness filled with cold air. I heard the voice of my Heavenly Father, “Where have you been?” Of course He knew of my whereabouts at all times, but this was more of a question to the posture of my heart. I had strayed away from Him. I allowed the cares of the world and a boy to separate me from my first love. I felt the sting of that question deep in my heart, for no other reason than deep conviction. I fell to my knees and wept. I missed home – my safe space where I spent time with just me and my Heavenly Father. I heard Him say, “Come back home.” And so I did. I did not leave that cold apartment of mine until it was full of the warmth of my Father and I penned the words of His heart for me.

Where is my beloved
He’s calling out to you
Turn back to his heart
You’ve been gone too long
Where is my beloved
Come on back home
My beloved

The time of the singing of birds is come
Singing a new song of your love
